TRANSFORMING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH TIME

The Propelled Heart can feel much stress from time pressure. The mind tells you to rush to fit more in, do more, to get from place to place. You may feel the squeeze of not having enough hours in the day to get it all in, or so you tell yourself. Chaotic thoughts that are not synced with the heart create “hurry energy.” Hurry energy makes you feel you have to speed up. This in turn creates faster, disordered heart rhythm patterns and further throws off your heart-brain communication and nervous system balance. Suddenly, we are fed a flurry of thoughts pushing us to move even faster, telling us we are not doing enough. That we are not enough.

The heart has its own calm rhythm, which is highly intelligent and therefore highly efficient. It never needs to get swept into the rhythm of the busy world around. The truth is that you will get pretty much the same things done in the same time, either with the frantic stressful energy of rushing that wreaks havoc on your body and peace, or without it. I know that if I get caught up in a mad pace during the morning lunch-making, breakfast-making, driving to school routine, things feel so much more hard—and I feel far more exhausted by 8:00 A.M. versus when I stay calm!

Learn to live from the calm rhythm of your heart. This is actually the most truly efficient rhythm, for in its profound intelligence, it can find the best solutions in an intuitive, nonlinear way when you don’t block its power.

When you start to feel rushed, focusing on getting more heart coherent is the most important thing! Shift to your heart, and take a few deep, slow breaths, as you’ve learned to do with the HeartAlign practices so far. Take even a few seconds to expand out of the present situation, which may feel like it’s constricting you, by focusing on the energy of appreciation.

Making this little heart shift in the middle of being aware that you are experiencing “hurry energy” helps you reemerge back into that moment of life, feeling calmer and more centered. Remind yourself that you don’t have to rush or hurry. You just have to do things with care and present-moment attention, and then things will work out in the best possible way.
